Winter!: Prepare for holiday gaming!
The first true implementation of the now iconic Metroid-Vania style game play, this game will remain one of my favorites of all time. Complex 2D sprites, countless enemies, and various play styles based on equipment, spells, and familiars (along with 'secret' playable characters) give this game continued replay value and timeless. Fun Fact: The Japanese version of the game for the Sega Saturn allowed for Maria (normally an NPC in game and brought over from Castlevania:Rondo of Blood) as a playable character. The PSP version allowed this as well, but changed to be more like her Rondo of Blood counterpart in both gameplay and sprite design.
